Selection Process

The SSC CHSL selection process consists of two stages:

  • Tier I – Computer-Based Test (CBT): An online objective test covering four subjects: General Intelligence & Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, and General Awareness. Each section carries equal weightage. There is negative marking for wrong answers.
  • Tier II – Descriptive / Skill Test: Tier II includes Descriptive Paper (Essay/letter writing in English or Hindi) and Skill/Typing Test (Conducted for posts like DEO, LDC, JSA to test typing or data entry proficiency). Candidates must qualify each stage to move to the next.
